HOLD'N HEAVEN DAYLILIES
in the Beautiful Connecticut River Valley |
|
Located at the home of
Neal and Charmaine Rich in East Thetford, Vermont, this AHS Display
Garden was designed to showcase an constantly growing Daylily
collection. Holdn' Heaven is a unique place combining Formal, Cottage
and Garden Room styles with a touch of the unconventional and whimsical.
Hybridizing began in 2001 with Charmaine's interest in producing embossed and ribbed sculpted forms in colors other than yellow.
A fascination with the few pattern eyes available at that time has produced a line of northern hardy patterned eyes. Distinctive blooms,
bud count, branching, clean foliage early morning opening (emo) and cold morning opening (cmo) are all important criteria used in the
selection of seedlings for introduction. The garden contains over 400 registered cultivars in mixed plantings with shrubs and perennials. The hybridizing beds contain another 100 registered cultivars and 4000 seedlings. All daylilies represented are Hemerocallis species. |
