H. 'WEST OF THE MOON'
(Rich 2012) Tet, Dormant, 34 inches tall, 6 inch bloom, early-mid season, 4 way branching with 20 buds, fragrant
(Vatican City X Promise to Behave)
West of the Moon is a deeply saturated blackberry wine red heavily overlaid in black velvet. Wide ruffles and a fine wire edge of white
finishes the edges of the 6 inch blooms. Under the black velvet is a small violet eye which leads down into a vivid green throat.
Occasional thick pleating deep in the throat will raise the petals above the sepals. Scapes are tall with 3 and 4 way branching,
once established 5 way branching is not uncommon, and carrying 16-24 buds. Dormant foliage looks good spring through fall. A wonderful focal
point in the garden and proving to be and excellent parent for clear saturated color, well branched scapes and even a few surprises!
Pod and pollen fertile although pods can be difficult in full sun. $125.00 DF
